We are pleased to announce that SOEH has merged with Special Olympics St. Albans (SOSA) as from 1st January 2023.
Special Olympics St Albans (SOSA) is a charity that provides sports training for people of 8 years and upwards who have intellectual (learning) disabilities. SOSA caters for all levels and abilities, from those who have not tried any sport previously, to those who want to compete at a local, national or ultimately international level.
The branch is under the umbrella of Special Olympics Great Britain and are a registered charity that also receives support and funding through Hertfordshire County Council. Whilst their focus is on sports, they also enjoy providing regular social events for the athletes and their families.
SOSA aims to support athletes in building confidence, self-esteem and skill levels. This is done both within training sessions and also by competing against other athletes in local, regional and national Special Olympic Competitions.
SOSA has weekly sessions in – Athletics, Boccia, Swimming and Netball. We also partner with local clubs to bring sessions in Football, Golf, Tag Rugby, Judo, Trampolining, Gymnastics, Dance and Basketball.
